Trust = lifetime USDC actually EARNED (settled to the operator's Base address, log-scaled — the hardest signal to fake) + balance retained + an anti-spam penalty that catches the trick: an operator with 1,000+ settlements that total $20 (≈$0.02 each, self-dealt to seed thousands of fake listings) scores near zero, not high. Volume ≠ trust; earned money is. + listing completeness (a real price, description, category).
An address we can't read on-chain is marked UNRATED — never scored as trustworthy. We tell you when we don't know. That honesty is the point: a directory that rewards inactivity as if it were proven-good is worse than none.
